Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy Chief of Staff of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, addressed a thematic panel of the United Nations General Assembly dedicated to enhancing the resilience of cities to climate change, natural disasters and environmental risks.

During her remarks, she noted that Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of two major global events-COP29 and WUF13-demonstrates the country’s consistent efforts to strengthen the linkages between the climate and urban planning agendas, as well as its contribution to advancing this issue on the international agenda.

She highlighted that one of the key outcomes of COP29 was the establishment of the Baku Continuity Coalition, a joint initiative of Azerbaijan, Brazil, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates aimed at ensuring continuity between the COP and WUF processes, as well as the launch of the Multisectoral Action Pathways (MAP) for Resilient and Healthy Cities initiative.

Gulshan Rzayeva emphasized that Azerbaijan remains committed to sharing its experience in integrating the climate and urban planning agendas with international partners and to further contributing to the development of cooperation in this field.
