Baku will host the World Habitat Day
Baku will host the World Habitat Day

At the 2nd session of the UN-Habitat Assembly held in Kenya, it was decided to hold the World Habitat Day in Baku in 2023. According to the Protocol of intent signed on June 8, 2023 between Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev and Executive Director of UN Habitat Maimunah Mohd Sharif, this significant international event will be held in the capital of Azerbaijan on October 2.   According to the relevant resolution of the UN General Assembly of 1985, the World Habitat Day, celebrated annually in one of the countries, contributes to creation of affordable and high-quality urban life and serves as a global platform for discussing the problems of sustainable urban development.   The main theme of this year's World Habitat Day will be devoted to discussing issues related to a sustainable urban economy and the role of cities as centers of progress.   Within the framework of the Urban Planning Week, which includes World Habitat Day, it is also planned to hold the 2nd National Urban Planning Forum and a number of other relevant events, which will be attended by officials and experts from dozens of countries, which will provide representatives of international and non-governmental organizations with the opportunity to exchange experience on these topics.
