The architectural competition “Renewed Face of Ancient Karabakh" held with the initiative of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture was completed

The competition "Renewed Face of Ancient Karabakh" held by the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture with the purpose to carry out systematic restoration-construction work in the liberated territories, to ensure the participation of architects and urban planning specialists in the reconstruction process in Karabakh was finalized. At the present stage, the target of the competition covering 5 villages (Sarijali, Shalva, Horadiz, Boyuk Marjanli, Zar) and 1 settlement (Khudaferin) was determining talents among young architects and designers learning their approaches, as well as searching of the non –standard concepts in the projects submitted. The best projects meeting the requirements of the competition were identified out of 21.    Thus, according to the decision of the jury, the winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were selected from the submitted projects in Sarijali village of Aghdam region, Shalva village of Lachin region. 1 project won the 2nd place and 2 projects won  the 3rd place in Horadiz settlement  of Fuzuli region, Boyuk Marjanli village of Jabrayil region and Khudaferin settlement. In Zar village of Kalbajar region, only 1 project wan the second place. It should be noted that the first place winner will receive 5,000 manat, the second place winner will receive 3,000 manat, the third place winner will receive 2,000 manat, and other participants will receive diplomas. The projects were evaluated on the analysis of the current state of settlements, their relationship to the historical context, originality, symbolism, integrity, as well as successful and professional artistic-graphic and architectural solutions, visual presentations.   It should be noted that mainly young specialists participated at  the competition  and a number of interesting project solutions were presented.  The winning projects include proposals for the creation of sustainable living conditions, the synthesis of modern architectural solutions with national architecture, the key areas of future technological development of settlements. The winning projects will be taken into account in the reconstruction work of the villages.
